Didactics of field trips
2. Research on didactics of biological/geographical field trips (together with the department of the didactics of geography of the MLU)
Field trips belong to the basic inventory of biology and geography lessons. They were once obligatory and combined in ‘field-trip-weeks’. Today’s more restrictive practice is among other reasons due to administrative and organisational hurdles. With this project, we aim to outline the current practice in Sachsen-Anhalt and then give advice on how to improve the issues.
We would also like to test and evaluate the chance of mobile computers in this regard.
Results of this project will also be presented within the workgroup tasked with the evaluation of scholastic standards for geography lessons, and incorporated into the discussion about the scope of “spatial orientation”.
Another focus lies on our own field trips. They lead into plots near the university, but also to ohter countries. These field trips enable to test new methods for outdoor teaching and learning.
